We started FreeTrain to empower freelancers through courses, resources and a community that enables productivity and growth.
By signing up to FreeTrain, you’ve joined thousands of freelancers learning how to find freelance work and build the freelance career of their dreams.
Now that you know a bit about us, let’s get to know you a little better.
The first thing you should absolutely do now that you’re a member is introduce yourself to the rest of the community.
Why not start by telling us:
1. Where you’re from
2. Your area of freelancing
3. Links to your personal website and social media profiles
4. Plus a little about why you went freelance in the first place (or want to go freelance if you’re still planning on making the leap!)
We can’t wait to meet you!

Hi, I’m Jenny from Manchester, UK.
I’m a freelance VA (Virtual Assistant for the uninitiated!) who fits in work around my busy life as a mum of two energetic boys.
I’ve only been freelancing for a few months now, so came across FreeTrain so I could learn a bit more and to meet other freelancers – hoping there are a few other VAs here too!
- AdministratorAugust 27, 2019 at 4:56 am
Welcome, Jenny! Yes, I know that there are a few other VAs who are freelance members. I’m sure they’ll be along to say hello soon too. Perhaps you could start a discussion to ask who else is a freelance VA?

Hey, I’m John from Austin, Texas. I’m a journalist by trade, but have been running my own side hustles for a few years now, so looking to make more of that by freelancing in SEO and content marketing. Still working on my personal portfolio website, but will share that once it’s ready…
- AdministratorAugust 28, 2019 at 8:16 pm
Welcome John! Feel free to share your personal website once it’s ready – and let me know if you have any SEO advice for Freetrain. 😉
Perhaps you could even create an “SEO for Freelancers” course for us?

I’m a new graduate and I have a gap between school and university, so I just want to do something new, useful and also a lucrative source of income for me. Just for gaining experience, I would consider freelancing as a secondary source of income when I finish university.

Hi Melissa! Great to get a head start on your freelance career and you can always fit some freelance work in around your studies (if there’s time to!)

I’m Maria from Italy and after working in companies where not always you share the same business values, the time is ripe to start my own business as entrepreneur and freelancer. My time is precious and I want to invest it in a different way. My industry is digital marketing and social media marketing.
Thanks for accepting me in this community Ben!

I’m Stuart, a Freelance Copywriter from Lincoln. I set up my freelance business fairly recently, after four years of work as an Editorial Consultant for a provider of business training materials. I am excited about the prospects of a freelance career but am keen to avoid the common feast and famine cycle.
I have worked for a variety of clients across the UK since making the full-time switch to freelance work. Recent projects have involved the writing of website content for a full-service agency, product descriptions for a footcare company, and blogs for a web design agency. Details of my services and a selection of samples can be found at https://www.writespot.co.uk.
I’m excited to be part of the FreeTrain community and am looking forward to picking up plenty of helpful tips.

If you were an editorial consultant for a provider of business training materials, then it would be great to get your feedback on our training courses 😉
Have you tried our free Freelance Foundations course yet? Any feedback, positive or negative?

Hey! I am an all-around digital design freelancer from Ghent, Belgium. I’m skilled in 3D, videography and video editing, motion graphics, UI/UX design, sound editing, videomapping, photography, and graphic design. This is what I do and what I’m good at! I started freelancing because I’ve had the idea of becoming one as soon as I started studying. I feel like it gives me more freedom too. ?

Hey Keanu! Love the showreel – especially the retro futuristic elements. Is there a significance to the red boot?
Always fun to have a digital designer join FreeTrain – I’m sure there are loads of design improvements you could point out 😉
Great to have you here though, let me know if you have any feedback on the signup and welcome experience at all.

Thank you so much! The red boot is mostly supposed to be a way to get my 3D skills out there as a first thing. And I feel like it immediately gains attention.

For now, FreeTrain looks pretty clean and neat. Haven’t fully explored yet though. The signup process went pretty smooth and everything was clear. So great job on that part! Already feel very welcome in the community somehow. Thanks! If I notice anything I can give you feedback on, I’ll be sure to let you know. Don’t hesitate to ask me questions either. ?

Greetings Everyone! I decided to go freelance during the Corona virus outbreak (yes, great timing) and by way of preparation revisited the excellent ‘Freelance in 30 Days’ eBook by Ben Matthews. So what do I do? All things marketing! I am less of a specific discipline and more of a marketing GP ie multi-disciplined and quite adept at developing and delivering integrated solutions. Find me on LinkedIn for more information.

Nice to meet y’all! I’m a freelancer who’s been thinking about how hard it is to manage your finances once you start freelancing. Currently working on a project to help make that part of freelancing easier so we can focus on the work we love.
