Welcome to the FreeTrain community!
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a current freelancer to join in. All we ask is for you to share any questions or challenges you want help with.
And if you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here.
We have an incredible group of experienced freelancers here, but we have just as many members that are new to the freelancing game.
Those people add infinite value because without questions to answer and challenges to solve, no one learns.
So jump in regardless of your level of experience – everyone’s voice adds value to our dialogue. There are no stupid questions.
If you’re looking for somewhere to get started, here is perfect.

I am a total newbie and have plans to do freelancing very soon but I don’t know what I don’t know. So a lot to learn.
I’m living in Warwickshire, UK (although from Plymouth originally) and my expertise is in learning and development, in particular with coaching and management and leadership subject areas.
I don’t have anything set up yet in the way of website or understanding of tax, rates or invoicing so I have a lot of work to do.
I want to go freelancing because after many years of full time work I just know I need to do something different and use what I know in a slightly different way. It’s all a bit scary after never doing anything like this in my long career but something is telling me now is the time.
I hope to read Ben’s website and get as much knowledge as I can over the next few weeks.
Thank you for all this advice on here…in advance.

Hi Mike, is there anything in particular you’d like to learn about? We’re keen to answer questions about freelancing or make your work easier, but need to know what people need help with!

I’m gradually learning. I’m starting very minimal so I think at the moment the whole area of accounting is my next learning area. I have been given advice to get an accountant but I doubt, at least for a considerable time, that the income would make that viable. Anything on the very basics of accounting would be helpful. Thank you.
